Jonathan specialises in all aspects of Family Law and handles disputes involving children, money and property. He is an Advanced Family Law Panel member, a trained collaborative lawyer and a registered family law expert with Resolution. He is committed to a constructive, non-confrontational approach aimed at helping clients find solutions without going through the courts. He has also been appointed under the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme as both a children representative and an adult party representative. In that capacity, he is able to represent not only children in all family proceedings where there is provision to represent children, but also adult parties (including, for example, parents and grandparents) in public law proceedings under the Children Act 1989.
An independent funding adjudicator with the Legal Aid Agency, Jonathan joined Wiseman Lee LLP in 1987 and is now a partner heading the Family Law department. He is married with two children. Furthermore Jonathan is a High Court Solicitor-Advocate who is qualified to represent his clients as advocate in family and civil law proceedings in the Higher Courts. This used to be the preserve of barristers. A relatively small number of solicitors have obtained this prestigious qualification. This means that he can now appear in all courts including the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court and has the same rights of audience as a barrister practicing civil law.
